Maternity services in Surrey
You have a choice in which hospital provides the majority of your care during and after your pregnancy. Throughout your pregnancy, your midwife will discuss with you if any care will be provided to you by a neighbouring hospital.
The aim is to provide you with a choice in the type of care you receive in pregnancy, birth and after you have had your baby. The services available at each maternity unit may vary. Please use the map below to identify a maternity unit that offers the services you would like. Please do not hesitate to contact the individual maternity units if you require more information.
NHS Maternity services in Surrey are provided by:
- Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- East Surrey Hospital, part of Sussex and Surrey Healthcare Trust
- Epsom Hospital, part of Epsom and St Helier University Trust
- Frimley Park Hospital, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust
- Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
- Kingston Maternity, Kingston Hospital (just outside North West Surrey)
Some hospitals may vary in the birthing options available. Options include the labour ward, a birth centre and having a home birth. You will have the opportunity to discuss your birth plan with your midwife during your pregnancy, and they can give you a more detailed overview of the options available to you.
Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP) is an NHS working group: a team of women and their families, commissioners and providers (midwives and doctors) working together to review and contribute to the development of local maternity care.
The purpose of MVPs is to focus on how services can be improved for everyone by bringing the perspective of service users in to how we design services. Each hospital has an MVP and contact details can be found on their website:
- Ashford and St Peter's Maternity Voices Partnership
- Epsom and St Helier Hospitals
- Frimley Park Hospital
- Royal Surrey County Hospital
- Surrey and Sussex Healthcare
If you would like to talk to someone about specific aspects of your own maternity experience, would like an explanation or insight into the care you received, or would like to make a complaint, please contact your maternity trust's Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) who can arrange a Birth Reflection with your care providers.
