You should think about the health and wellbeing of you and your partner when trying to become pregnant. This may include:

- Being a healthy weight
- Limiting your alcohol consumption, get support to cut down or stop drinking
- Eating a healthy, balanced diet
- Identifying the best time in your monthly cycle to conceive
- Seeking advice if you have pre-existing medical conditions or are taking medication
- Seeking advice on folic acid supplementation from a healthcare professional
