Free naloxone service available
Naloxone is an emergency antidote for overdoses caused by opiates such as heroin, methadone, morphine, codeine and fentanyl.
The main life-threatening effect of heroin and other opiates is to suppress the respiratory system and stop breathing particularly when used with alcohol or other drugs. Naloxone blocks this effect and reverses the breathing difficulties bringing people back from a life threatening overdose situation. This life saving intervention in Surrey will make a positive contribution towards the prevention of drug related deaths.
Free naloxone kits are available at Community pharmacies and Guildford Action.
